Pet+E.R. accepts applications for five Emergency and Critical Care specialty internship candidates each year.
Pet+E.R. is a VECCS Level II certified 24-hour emergency and critical care hospital that shares a facility with multiple specialists (internal medicine, oncology, surgery, cardiology, dentistry, neurology, and ophthalmology).
There are two Pet+E.R. locations: Towson, MD, and Columbia, MD, which are in the Baltimore and DC metro area.
In 2023, our Towson practice is relocating to a brand-new, 40,000 square foot facility.

Our hospital practices emergency and critical care medicine at the highest level of private practice. Evidence-based medicine forms the basis for our treatment plans.
Requirements to Apply
Graduate of AVMA-accredited US or Canadian College of Veterinary Medicine with a passing NAVLE.
Active Maryland veterinary license.
Rotating small animal internship or 1-2 years of clinical experience required. One internship slot is available for a new graduate.

Internship Structure
Partner with an ACVECC diplomate and experienced emergency clinicians, with independent work progressing as skills are obtained.
Up to four out-rotations through a local shelter providing surgical services, in order to provide a broadened surgical experience (as made available by shelter partners)
One to two weeks out-rotation in a specialty area other than ECC, at another specialty hospital, or university if desired.
We strongly encourage preparation for residency OR a clinical ER focus within our internship program and provide support training with emergency surgeries, ultrasound scanning, and cadaver procedure wet labs.
Schedule
Four shifts per week in the combination of day, swing, and overnight shifts working alongside an ACVECC diplomate or experienced emergency clinician.
Holidays will be shared among the emergency doctors including the interns.
